Quiet like a TV on mute
Watching while understanding nothing
Except this is not on screen
This is real life
These are my parents
I sit idly by
As they ignore the images I see
Nothing I say will end this scene
Muted by miscommunication
Powerless
Invisible yet present
Fading into the background
I wait
Until someone changes the images I see
